Canada’s farmers and rural communities rely on Temporary Foreign Workers and Seasonal Agriculture Workers to help produce the food we eat. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen vulnerable disruptions to our agri-food labour system.
It has clearly shown the need for a resilient national labour strategy that will not only stabilize the availability of workers throughout the pandemic and beyond, but will also include strategies for introducing widespread skill development measures, labour saving technologies and better labour market intelligence.
