Big Data for Small Places

In our work in rural research and consulting, my colleague and I were frequently asked for assistance with local data. We believed staff in rural municipalities and NGOs should be able to find and interpret relevant data without employing a consultant. When we inquired about the obstacles rural staff faced, some recurring themes emerged.

They may not have the technical or financial resources to identify and use data that are relevant for planning. To help rural communities better engage with available data, ROI has updated its Fact-Finder’s Guide to Local & Regional Data and produced a new video covering some important topics related to rural data.
